The 2025-2025 academic year saw SigEp at UConn garner numerous undergraduate and alumni awards.
The Carlson Leadership Academy held in Parsippany, NJ in January was shortened due to the winter storm that shut down much of the northeast. . . .but not before chapter and alumni received several awards for outstanding performance.
The chapter received the Donald C. McCleary Award for Excellence in Member Development, which recognizes chapters that exercise a commitment to the Balanced Man Program and provide compelling and individualized opportunities to develop members throughout their time in college in the five philosophical tenets: equal rights and responsibilities, continuous development, accountability, living the Ritual, and mentoring.
SigEp also conferred the Excelsior Award for Academics, reflective of fostering a culture of success in the classroom by providing structured academic programming, restorative support, and partnerships with university staff and resources.
For the third year in a row, the Alumni and Volunteer Corporation received the Sunago Award for Excellence in Mentorship. This award recognizes “mentor teams that foster an exceptional connection and collaboration among their volunteers and with undergraduate members, leading to a healthy experience and supportive environments.”
The Alumni and Volunteer Corporation also again received the AVC Operational Excellence Award for outstanding service with tangible results to an undergraduate chapter and/or excelled in core areas of operation: mentoring undergraduates, alumni cultivation, asset management, and corporate health.
Separately, several brothers received individual national recognition.
Chapter president Noah Arce-Caliskan ’27 was selected as a Tragos Quest to Greece Scholar.
Jack Nachtygal ‘28 and Nikholas Torres ‘27, chapter vice president of recruitment, were selected to attend the Ruck Leadership Academy.
And Zach Corporale ’26, former vice president of communications, received the J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Senior award, which is presented to one outstanding senior in each district of the Fraternity and based on outstanding scholastic achievement, Fraternity and campus leadership, and community involvement.
The year culminated with the chapter being recognized locally as UConn’s IFC Fraternity Chapter of the Year.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the continued success of SigEp at UConn. The brothers of CT Alpha look to building on these accomplishments over the course of the next year as it approaches applying for its fifth consecutive Buchanan Cup.
