CT Alpha Alumni Fund
Since returning to campus in 2015, the Connecticut Alpha Alumni and Volunteer Corporation has devoted over $30,000 to support our chapter's mission. Gifts to the CT Alpha Alumni Fund help us accomplish this by funding our Spring Senior picnic, our biannual chapter-alumni reunions, and our newsletter program. Money from this fund is also used to help adorn the chapter house with decades of alumni memorabilia.

Gildhouse Brotherly Love Scholarship
The Gildhouse Brotherly Love Scholarship, sponsored through the generosity of Verndell Gildhouse, Connecticut Renaissance ’87, will help ensure the ongoing success of Connecticut Alpha by promoting the values of Leadership and Brotherly Love.
Brother Gildhouse has demonstrated Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love an all aspects of his life and career and he believes strongly in the mission of the Fraternity. And although we have many ways to recognize outstanding examples of leadership or scholarship, the acknowledgement of Brotherly Love, true friendship, is often neglected.
Awards from this fund also be made to individual members who demonstrate outstanding characteristics of Leadership and Brotherly Love. Thanks to our generous donors, we have been able to send two members each summer to the Ruck Leadership Institute, the fraternity world’s premier training academy for rising leaders, and have recently had our fourth member attend the exclusive Quest to Greece.

About Brother Gildhouse
In 1985, US Army Captain Verndell Gildhouse was serving at UConn as Professor of Military History and Science, and CT Alpha SigEps in Army and Air Force ROTC got to know him well enough to invite him to some functions at the 9 Gilbert Road house. By 1987, many others in the Fraternity had gotten to know Vern well enough to extend the offer of becoming initiated as a Renaissance brother.
Once initiated, Vern stayed fully involved in the chapter, developing many close relationships with undergraduate brothers. At the 1987 Grand Chapter Conclave in New Orleans, Vern joined the Conclave Choir along with many Connecticut Alphas, and stepped in to direct the choir the next three Conclaves, only giving up the baton when his career took him overseas. Under Vern’s direction, the choir was able to secure funding to record an entire CD of SigEp songs, gathering near his home in Chicago, where he was earning an MA in Arabic & Turkish Studies at the University of Chicago.
Vern served in the United States Army as a Personnel and Administration Officer from his commission as a 2nd Lt in 1979 until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2000, where he was serving as Chief, NATO LANDSOUTHEAST Army & NATO Sixth Air Tactical Force Headquarters in Izmir. Although his career took him around the world and back, Vern put down significant roots in Turkey. His local involvement includes acting, singing, and directing theater groups, chairing the Ankara International Charities Committee, and serving on many local boards such as the Turkish American Association and Ankara, the British Embassy International School.
Vern is currently CEO/Owner of Dillingham Construction International Inc., based in his hometown, Ponca City, OK.
